Mendota Elementary School offers various programs that support students' learning through specialized enrichment in the classroom or through "pull out" classes for individuals or groups.

Basic Skills
English as a Second Language

At Mendota Elementary School, the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher collaborates with classroom teachers to teach district curriculum supported by second language acquisition strategies. The ESL teacher may pull students out in small groups, or go into the mainstream classroom to collaborate with teachers. Grade level content is made comprehensible using sheltered instruction and scaffolding techniques to meet individual students’ language needs and learning styles. ESL teachers may provide support in reading, language arts, science, math and intervention time.
