CardinalI graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  I then went on to receive my Masters Degree in Education from Hamline University with an emphasis in Curriculum and Classroom Community.  I began my teaching career in District 197.  I have taught at both Somerset Elementary and Mendota Elementary, along with two years in my home town area.  In the summers, I spend my time teaching teachers as a certified facilitator for the Responsive Classroom.  My work with Responsive Classroom has allowed me the opportunity to work with many educators from across the country.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family.  We've been involved with my daughter's dance team and my son's hockey team.  We are big hockey fans in the winter and enjoy camping in the summer!

First graders are busy working on their reading skills and strategies!  They have started looking for books that are "just right" for their independent reading level.  In math, we are working on number skills, telling time to the hour and half-hour, and counting nickels, pennies, and dimes.  We have also been exploring the concept of measurement with both standard and nonstandard units of measure.
